The People’s Bureau of Ignorance is an audio/visual project run by Lázaro Aguilar established in late 2014 and based in Chicago. Made to maintain full artistic control, The People’s Bureau functions both as a label and design studio.
Utilitarian in nature, both musical and visual outputs maintain a stripped back aesthetic—choosing to focus on raw DIY elements and tongue-in-cheek antics. Debuting in 2014 with «Pépe’s Vibe», TPBOI continues to be a testbed for new and refined sounds. Whether that be laying low to the ground to catch the new wave, or drawing from the past moving forward.
Strongly influenced by design from the 60s & 70s, The People seek to fuse classic modern taste with the playful ignorance of 90s Midwestern DIY rave culture. Besides, what’s a party without a flyer?
